Winnipeg Jets 3 Detroit Red Wings 2 (Shootout) – A lot of interesting statistics out of this win. For the Jets it was their second straight shootout win, the third straight extra time loss for the Red Wings and in the last 10 games that the Wings have gone to extra time at home, they have not been able to get the extra point. Andrew Ladd again had the shootout winner. The Jets are now 4-1 in the shootout this season with Ladd getting the winner in the last three. (Dallas, San Jose, Detroit). Ladd is five for five in the shootout this year and going back to last year is seven for seven. Jussi Jokinen holds the NHL record with nine straight, Jarret Stoll has eight, then Ladd at seven. Ondrej Pavelec, brilliant in the game, stopped two of three in the shootout, and has now stopped eight of the last nine. Goaltending Coach Wade Flaherty feels patience is the key for Pavelec. “The shootout is a game of chicken, who will bite first. Hes more aggressive, holding his ground and as a result not folding into his net. Hes more relaxed.” For the first time this season the Jets have won three straight, and have won four of five to improve their record to 9-9-2 and move into fifth place in the Central Division. Bryan Little celebrated his birthday by opening the scoring in the game. The last three times the Jets have scored the first goal, Little has been the shooter. It was his team leading 11th goal of the year upping his totals to 3-2-5 in the last three games, 6-4-10 in the last eight and 8-4-12 in the last 11. Andrew Ladd picked up an assist on the goal giving him 2-7-9 in the last seven games. But it was a great pass from Blake Wheeler that Little converted. Pavel Datsyuk on a power play tied the game, the goal coming on Mark Scheifeles first NHL penalty. Red Wings outshot the Jets 16-8 in the first. No goals and no penalties in fast paced second, Detroit outshooting Winnipeg 10-9. Jets took the lead in the third, with Zach Bogosian getting his first of the year, assists to Evander Kane and Olli Jokinen.. Then the Jets ran into penalty trouble. Wheeler went for tripping, and on the penalty kill Kanes stick came up on Mikael Samuelson and for the fourth time this season the Jets were down two men. Datsyuk showed his magic hands again, knocking a James Wright clearing attempt out of mid-air to keep the puck in the Jets zone, and then putting a loose puck home to tie the game. The goal came one second after the penalty to Wheeler expired, allowing Kane to come out of the box as well. Jets are four for four this season when shorthanded two players. Wings outshot the Jets 16-2 in the third but as he was throughout the game, Pavelec was terrific. “Pavelec put his best foot forward and really helped us win,” commented Coach Claude Noel post game. The Jets got a power play in overtime but could not score, sending the game to the shootout. Pavelec challenged Datsyuk who fired wide, Devin Setoguchi scored and is now 9/19 in his career, Daniel Alfredson scored to tie the shootout, Ladd converted and is now 11/21 in his career, then Pavelec sealed the deal stopping Todd Bertuzzi. It was Ladds sixth career shootout winner. Final shots were 43-21 in favour of Detroit. Pavelec has now stopped 112 of his last 118 shots for three wins in his last three starts, for a save percentage of .949.  “It was a hard road game,” continued Coach Noel. “Their speed and skill gave us trouble in our end. Its a hard place to win. We were in good shape going into the third and even though we were outshot our attitude was tremendous. We are happy with four wins in five games. You never really see a streak coming, but you can see the attitude of your team change. Our team, the way we are, we need a lot of “A” games to have success. We stuck together. Team is coming together. Now we just keep building. We are confident in the shootout.” A busy and difficult schedule continues for the Jets. Philadelphia is at the MTS Centre Friday, Jets in Minnesota Sunday and home to Calgary Monday. (All games TSN Jets, TSN 1290) It will be three in four nights with the back to back games at the end of it. Friday also starts four of five at home and a chance to improve their home record. Friday also starts five games in nine days for the Jets. Air Force 1 Clearance Sale . Leaning forward with both hands on his knees, Buffon appeared to be resting or somehow trying to withstand the rain. Or perhaps the 36-year-old goalkeeper and Italy captain was reflecting on this: He is only the third player in history to be part of five World Cup squads, along with Germany great Lothar Matthaus and former Mexico goalkeeper Antonio Carbajal. http://www.airforce1clearance.com/ . For Bergevin, the best pick is the 30th — which traditionally goes to the Stanley Cup winner. "Thats our goal. Air Force 1 Clearance . A day after FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke said three stadiums would not be ready in time for the Dec. 31 deadline, Brazilian officials said they actually plan to deliver all six remaining venues after that date. They claim only three are delayed, with the other three being handed over after the expected date only because of problems accommodating the schedule of Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, who wants to be present for the ceremonies. Cheap Air Force 1 China . HEROES Alex Ovechkin – Scored a pair of goals in Washington’s 4-0 win over Pittsburgh. With 13 goals in the past 13 games, Ovechkin now has 29 goals on the season to lead the league.LONG BEACH, Calif. - Ryan Hunter-Reay, determined to rebound from a disappointing season, is off to a strong start in what he hopes will be another run toward the IndyCar championship. Hunter-Reay won the pole Saturday for the 40th Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, knocking teammate James Hinchcliffe of Oakville, Ont., from the top spot while ensuring an all-Andretti Autosport front row. Hunter-Reay won three poles last year, but as his performance tapered off in the second half of the season, he was unable to defend his 2012 championship. He opened this year with a second-place finish at St. Petersburg, and now will try for his first win of the season Sunday at Long Beach. "It just comes down to this team giving me what I need when I need it," the American said after turning a lap in 1 minute, 7.8219 seconds on the temporary course through the streets of downtown. Hinchcliffe wound up second after his lap at 1 minute, 7.9403 seconds. "If you are going to lose pole, it might as well be to a teammate," Hinchcliffe said. Sebastien Bourdais was third, followed by Josef Newgarden, rookie Jack Hawksworth and Simon Pagenaud. Honda drivers made up five of the Fast Six spots, with Bourdais the only Chevrolet representative. "What a qualifying session — you never knew who was going to put in the best lap," Hunter-Reay said. "It was anybodys session." Well, not anybody. The session was surprising for who didnt advance into the later rounds. Defending race winner Takuma Sato didnt make it out of the first group, and was penalized for interfering with Hunter-Reay during his lap. The punishment stripped Sato of his two fastest laps in the session. "Tough qualifying session," Sato said. Also failing to advance was Indianapolis 500 winnner Tony Kanaan, making his second start for Target/Chip Ganassi Racing.dddddddddddd In the next group, Will Power failed to move on for just the second time in his career. He last failed to advance out of the first round at Brazil last season. "Obviously, the team is starting a lot further back then we had hoped," Power said. "We just have to try to make that work from where we are and do the best we can tomorrow." Defending series champion Scott Dixon did advance into the second round, as did runner-up Helio Castroneves. But neither made it into the Fast Six round, shutting both Team Penske and Chip Ganassi Racing out of the final group. Juan Pablo Montoya continued to struggle in his return to IndyCar after seven seasons in NASCAR. As he was pushing for more speed on his last qualifying attempt, he lost control of his car and hit the wall. Hell start 16th on Sunday. "We keep gaining on it and I definitely think we had a car that was capable of the Fast Six. We just brushed the wall in turn four," he said. "I was trying hard to get that extra two tenths and it didnt work out." Also struggling on Saturday was Graham Rahal, who has not found much speed and qualified last in the 23-car field. Oriol Servia, making his first start of the season for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, also struggled in morning practice but picked up some speed in qualifying and advanced into the second round. Servia was eliminated in that round and will start 12th. "We tried to make more changes to get the balance in the car better and then tried some bigger ones for qualifying," Rahal said. "We are just struggling with overall grip. Oriol had a big grip gain on alternate tires and I didnt feel it. We have a lot of work to do." ' ' '
